Nashville Sidewalks

Background:

As the Nashville Metropolitan Area continues to grow, it is essential that city sidewalks are both accessible and safe. The Nashville and Davidson County sidewalk network covers a total of over 2,000 miles end-to-end and is a vital part of the area’s transportation system. The Wilmot “sidewalk team“ plays a key role in the construction and maintenance of the sidewalk network.

Results:

The Wilmot staff collects data based on ADA-compliant sidewalk design guidelines and provides condition reports to LDA Engineering through the ArcGIS Field Maps application. Wilmot technicians also collect traffic pattern data to help prioritize specific areas for sidewalk repairs and expansion. The survey team from Wilmot enables the Nashville Department of Transportation to schedule necessary sidewalk repairs and follow up on the work for quality control. Over the long term, Wilmot’s data collection will lead to safer and more accessible sidewalks across the Nashville Metropolitan Area.
