When we got our start in 1994, “going green” required a bottle of hair dye, not a corporate strategy. Since then, we’ve been a go-to resource for organizations in the public and private sectors that want to do better for the planet.
Our history
Meet Tiffany Wilmot, or "Tiff" as her friends affectionately call her.
Originally from Canada, she made her way to Nashville by way of California, where she became a true pioneer on the sustainability landscape. Over 30 years ago, she founded Wilmot Inc., which became the gold standard for recycling, waste management, and eco-friendly construction. With a passion for both the environment and community, she has continually raised the bar in the industry, helping organizations across the United States and beyond thrive while making a positive impact on our planet.
Today, Tiffany remains dedicated to the work she loves, mentoring women through the organization she founded, Tennessee Women in Green. She also spends time guiding young people who are looking to forge a path in the sustainability space.
When she’s not on a job site, you might find her teaching a yoga class. She's also a devoted dog mom to Bea, her lovable companion who shares in her many adventures.

1993
Wilmot’s first project: Nashville’s Solid Waste Master Plan: Wilmot was part of the team that created Nashville’s first solid waste master plan. Wilmot was charged with writing the recycling portion of the plan.

1994
General Motors Waste Reduction Program: Wilmot was hired by GM’s innovative Saturn plant to create a waste reduction program. Wilmot used source reduction to decrease the amount and toxicity of materials and implemented composting and recycling.

2000
FDA Headquarters C&D Debris Recycling Feasibility Study: Wilmot conducted a feasibility study to salvage materials from the demolition of 74 buildings for the new FDA headquarters saving over $1 million.

World’s First LEED Gold Convention Center: Wilmot facilitated LEED for the David L Lawrence convention center in Pittsburg.

World’s First LEED Home + Highest Scoring Project: Wilmot certified Al Gore’s home and achieved a 97% recycling rate for his LEED Platinum office, the highest scoring LEED project in USGBC history.

Wilmot Establishes Program Management Service with sustainability additions to the design and construction standards for Clean Water Nashville, a program to manage overflows into the Cumberland River and its tributaries.

Nashville Goes Net Zero: Wilmot is helping Nashville meet the city's 100% renewable energy mandate by installing 80MW of onsite distributed solar, saving Nashville nearly $80M over the life of the project.

Wilmot’s First Envision Platinum Project: Wilmot begins facilitation of Envision and LEED Platinum on the world’s most sustainable water treatment plant, Omohundro.

Wilmot Named Country’s Top Sustainability Consultant: Environmental Business Review names Wilmot top sustainability consultant of the year and publishes article, Making Sustainability Pay.
