Bridgestone Waste Plan

Overview

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations partnered with Wilmot Inc. to revolutionize its waste management processes across multiple facilities. The project centered on enhancing the waste tracking and recycling efforts, critical to Bridgestone's goal of achieving industry-leading sustainability standards. Wilmot's role was to assess the current waste management practices, improve data collection methods, and streamline the overall process to boost efficiency and compliance.

Results

Through the collaboration with Bridgestone, Wilmot Inc. significantly enhanced waste management practices across Bridgestone's operations. By implementing a comprehensive waste tracking system, Wilmot improved the accuracy and efficiency of waste and recycling data collection.

We conducted waste audits at Bridgestone facilities in Tennessee and South Carolina, analyzing waste streams to identify recycling opportunities. These audits were instrumental in discovering and developing markets for previously landfilled materials, transforming waste into valuable resources.

This achievement allowed for the standardization of waste reporting processes across all facilities, ensuring consistency and reliability in data collection and enabling easier identification of improvement areas. Enhanced recycling practices led to increased diversion of waste from landfills, aligning with Bridgestone's sustainability goals.

Additionally, the streamlined processes and improved data management practices increased operational efficiency, reducing the resources and time required for waste management. This initiative not only bolstered Bridgestone's environmental stewardship but also established the company as a leader in sustainable waste management within the tire manufacturing industry.
