Mayor Karl Dean’s Green Ribbon Committee
When former Mayor Karl Dean newly elected, he was seeking support and input from community leaders in a variety of areas. Tiffany Wilmot’s involvement led to the creation of the Mayor’s Green Ribbon Committee a year later. Mayor Dean charged the Committee with recommending measures to make Nashville the “most sustainable city in the Southeast”. Tiffany Wilmot led the Green Building & Energy subcommittee along with Nashville Electric Service CEO, DeCosta Jenkins. Their subcommittee reviewed existing sustainable practices and areas for improvement within Metro government and the community at large. The Green Ribbon Committee’s goals and recommendations led to the hiring of the city’s first Sustainability Director and the start of several other projects.
